Kosovo’s Population Decline Evident in Latest Census Results
The recent census conducted in Kosovo from April 5 to May 24, 2024, reveals a population of 1,602,515, marking a significant decline from previous counts. The demographic study reports a considerable drop from 1,739,825 in 2011 and from 1,956,196 in 1991. Notably, 91.6% of the population identifies as Albanian, with 91.49% practicing Islam. Around 550,000 Kosovars are reportedly living abroad, while the Serbian population chose not to participate in the census.
