In a letter to Energy and Environment Minister Thodoros Skylakakis, nine organizations from Kozani have called for enhancements to the district heating scheme amid concerns over rising heating costs. The groups, representing local workers, businesses, and trade associations, stressed the urgent need for government subsidies to keep heating prices affordable, as well as additional discounts for businesses to stimulate economic growth. They also urged the government to secure the operation of the Agios Dimitrios power station to ensure reliable heating for the region, highlighting the ongoing hardships faced by local citizens.
