Gavin Doran, 39, has been sentenced to six years in prison for multiple offenses, including coercive control and assault against his former partner, Nicole Nolan. The Carlow Circuit Court jury unanimously found Doran guilty of threatening to kill and false imprisonment during a two-and-a-half-year abusive relationship. Evidence revealed that their young son witnessed part of the violent incident in October 2021. Nolan described the trauma from the assault in her victim impact statement, stating she feared for her life. Doran has a history of similar convictions, leading to the judge’s harsh sentence.
