Mark King Receives Five-Year Ban and £68,000 Fine for Match Fixing
Former Northern Ireland Open champion Mark King has been banned from professional snooker for five years and fined £68,000 after being found guilty of match fixing and providing insider information. The sanctions stem from suspicious betting activity on his match against Joe Perry at the Welsh Open in February 2023. King’s suspension was initially imposed by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) in March 2023. He denies the allegations and has until November 28 to appeal the disciplinary committee’s decision.
