Jack Teixeira, a 22-year-old member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for leaking classified military documents, including sensitive information regarding Russia’s war in Ukraine. US District Judge Indira Talwani deemed the leaks among the most significant violations of the Espionage Act. Teixeira, who pleaded guilty to six counts of willful retention of classified information, shared details via Discord, despite prior warnings from superiors about mishandling sensitive data. His legal team argued that he intended to inform friends about global events, not harm the US.
