Meta Takes Preliminary Steps in EU to Ease Content Moderation Policies
Meta, the tech giant led by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, has initiated steps to relax content moderation rules within the European Union by submitting a risk analysis to the European Commission. This follows recent announcements in the U.S. regarding changes in fact-checking practices. Under EU regulations, tech companies must provide risk assessments before making significant changes to their platforms. If the new system fails to mitigate risks associated with misinformation, the European Commission could initiate legal proceedings against Meta, which is already facing two ongoing procedures.
