NASA’s Parker Solar Probe Achieves Historic Close Approach to the Sun
NASA’s Parker Solar Probe has successfully completed the closest approach to the Sun by any human-made object, coming within 6.1 million kilometers of the solar surface. The spacecraft has set multiple records, enduring temperatures of 982 degrees Celsius and reaching speeds of 692,000 kilometers per hour. After signaling successful operations on December 26, the probe is set to send detailed telemetry data on January 1. Scientists hope to gather more information about solar phenomena during its next two passes in March and June 2025.
