New EU Law to Enforce Driver’s License Suspension Across Member States

A recently approved law by EU transport ministers will allow for the suspension of driver’s licenses across all member states for serious traffic violations, such as driving under the influence or excessive speeding. Previously, drivers could retain their licenses in their home countries despite losing them abroad. The new regulations aim to enhance road safety and promote consistent enforcement of traffic laws throughout the EU. Transport Minister Volker Wissing emphasized its importance for Germany as a transit country.
