Paris Bus Services to Transition to Private Operators by 2026
By 2026, bus networks in Paris and its suburbs will shift to private operators through a public service delegation process. This transition, which began with the competitive bidding for three bus lots, affects 315 lines and nearly 4,800 buses, impacting around 19,000 workers. The first three lots include ‘Marne et Brie’, ‘Boucles Nord de Seine’, and ‘Bords de Marne’, with companies like Kéolis and Cap Île-de-France expected to manage them. Concerns over employment conditions and service quality arise amidst this structural change aimed at improving public transport efficiency, as mandated by European directives.
