Pompeii Implements Daily Visitor Limit to Combat Overcrowding
Pompeii archaeological park has instituted a daily cap of 20,000 visitors to alleviate congestion and enhance sustainable tourism. This new system requires named tickets divided into morning and afternoon slots during peak seasons. Director Gabriel Zuchtriegel emphasized the goal is to maintain visitor safety and preserve the ancient site, not to deter tourism. With 3.84 million visitors already this year, efforts will also focus on opening more areas of the park to accommodate crowds. This initiative reflects a broader trend in Italy to manage tourist overflow in popular destinations.
