Pompeii Implements Visitor Limits to Protect Cultural Heritage
Beginning November 15, the Pompeii Archaeological Park will enforce new measures to manage crowds, including a daily cap of 20,000 visitors and the requirement to register visitor names. These changes come after a record summer that saw over 4 million visitors, a 33% increase from the previous year. Park director Gabriele Juhtrigel emphasized the need for quality tourism to safeguard both visitor safety and the fragile cultural heritage, echoing recent initiatives at other historic sites like the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
