Poverty in France Increases as Reports Show Alarming Statistics

A new report by the Observatoire des inégalités reveals that France has seen an increase of 1.4 million people living in poverty over the past 20 years, amounting to 8.1% of the population. The report highlights that children and young adults are the most affected, and while employment reduces poverty, it does not eliminate it entirely. Additionally, immigrants are disproportionately represented among the poor, with rates significantly higher than those born in France. Despite the challenges, France’s social model has mitigated recent crises better than many EU nations.
