Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of Spain’s People’s Party (PP), has called on the Algerian government to avoid penalizing the Spanish populace due to recent diplomatic frictions. He attributed these tensions to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s shift in position regarding Western Sahara, which led to Algeria suspending its Friendship and Cooperation Treaty with Spain. Feijóo emphasized that the majority of the Spanish Parliament did not endorse the government’s decision and criticized the lack of communication from Sánchez’s administration about the ongoing diplomatic crisis.
