Reopening of Riedbahn: Train Services Resume After Extensive Repairs

After five months of construction, the Riedbahn railway between Mannheim and Frankfurt is set to reopen on Sunday for both freight and passenger trains. Despite the completion of key infrastructure upgrades, some work remains as the railway aims for significantly reduced delays. The upgrade includes the installation of the European Train Control System (ETCS), which will enable higher speeds on the route. However, some train services will still face limitations for a while, particularly in regional traffic where buses have temporarily replaced trains.
