Russia Halts Gas Supply to Austria Amid Legal Dispute
Russia has confirmed it will cease gas deliveries to Austria starting Saturday, a decision linked to a legal dispute involving Austrian energy company OMV and Russian firm Gazprom. OMV was awarded €230 million by an international arbitration court, which it views as sufficient to consider its gas deliveries as prepaid. Despite this setback, Austrian regulators assert the country is no longer reliant on Russian gas, with alternative supply routes identified and gas storage at 90% capacity. The halt impacts the entire Austrian gas market, as OMV is the sole partner receiving gas from Gazprom.
