Sabotage Suspected in Baltic Cable Damage Involving Russian-Linked Vessel
Two telecommunications cables between Finland and Estonia, damaged on December 25, have been repaired, while an investigation into the sabotage continues. The Finnish police suspect the oil tanker ‘Eagle S,’ believed to be part of a Russian ‘phantom fleet,’ could be responsible. The vessel, flagged under the Cook Islands and linked to Russian sanctions, was found near the damaged site. Other cables remain unrepaired, with ongoing efforts to restore communication between the countries.
