Drone footage revealed inundated fields and prompted evacuations of local properties. In addition, the M56 highway was closed due to the emergency situation. The heavy rains coincided with Greater Manchester police’s declaration of a major incident as numerous residents were trapped in their homes by floodwaters across north west England.
