Severe Flooding in Cheshire After Canal Collapse on New Year’s Day
On New Year’s Day, heavy rainfall led to the collapse of canal banks in Cheshire, causing significant flooding in Little Bollington and nearby areas. Drone footage revealed inundated fields and prompted evacuations of local properties. In addition, the M56 highway was closed due to the emergency situation. The heavy rains coincided with Greater Manchester police’s declaration of a major incident as numerous residents were trapped in their homes by floodwaters across north west England.
