Sint Maarten Celebrates Grand Reopening of Airport Terminal After Hurricane Irma
After seven years of reconstruction following Hurricane Irma, the Princess Juliana Airport in Sint Maarten has officially reopened its new terminal, inaugurated by Princess Beatrix. The previous facility suffered severe damage from the storm, prompting a €200 million investment to build a hurricane-resistant structure. CEO Brian Mingo praised the collaboration with Dutch experts and companies, including KLM, in overcoming challenges during the rebuild. The enhanced terminal aims to boost local tourism and economic growth, with projections of welcoming 1.5 million passengers annually.
