Son Sentenced to Over 31 Years for Attempted Murder Driven by Inheritance Feud

Thomas Kwan, 53, was sentenced to over 31 years in prison for attempting to murder his mother’s partner in a bid for financial gain. The Newcastle Crown Court revealed Kwan’s strained relationship with his mother stemmed from inheritance grievances following his father’s death. Disguised as a nurse, he attempted to give Patrick O’Hara a poisoned COVID jab while his mother was present. Despite previous warnings from police, Kwan’s obsession with finances escalated, ultimately leading to his drastic actions, which the judge characterized as motivated by a desire to reclaim what he felt was his rightful inheritance.
