Spain’s Search Continues for Missing After Devastating Floods
In the aftermath of severe flooding in Spain, authorities are continuing the search for the 93 people reported missing, with fears that the actual number could be higher. The death toll has risen to 219, particularly concentrated in the Valencia region, where 211 fatalities occurred. The Spanish government has initiated a €10.6 billion aid package while the Valencia region has requested an additional €31 billion. Despite restoration efforts for infrastructure, the high-speed rail line between Valencia and Madrid remains damaged. Thousands, including military personnel and volunteers, are engaged in recovery operations, following a visit from the royal family met with public discontent.
