Supreme Court President Critiques Lawyers’ Proposed Boycott
Mihalis Pikramenos, President of Greece’s Supreme Administrative Court, has expressed concerns over a proposed boycott of court sessions by lawyers’ associations. In a letter to Dimitris Vervesos, Pikramenos emphasized that such actions hinder judicial effectiveness and can adversely affect social order. While acknowledging the right to criticize judicial decisions, he urged lawyers to assist in resolving cases promptly rather than resorting to abstention, especially regarding pivotal issues. This proposal emerged following the court’s rulings deeming the Athens Bar Association lacked legal standing in certain petitions, viewed as frivolous by the court.
