Swiss Government Recommends Rejection of ‘Safe Nutrition’ Initiative
The Swiss government has advised voters to reject the ‘For Safe Nutrition’ initiative, which seeks to increase domestic production and consumption of plant-based foods to a self-sufficiency rate of at least 70%. Officials argue that the initiative’s goals are unattainable within the proposed ten-year timeline. Instead, they plan to pursue a comprehensive approach through a draft agricultural policy, AP30+, set for public consultation in the second half of 2026. This plan includes measures aimed at enhancing value creation within the agricultural and food sectors.
