Swiss Religious Exodus Reflects Declining Faith in God
In 2023, Switzerland saw a significant rise in the number of people leaving religious institutions, particularly within the Catholic Church, which lost 67,497 members. A recent SRG survey revealed that over half of respondents do not believe in God, while 75% express strong faith in science. The findings suggest an erosion of traditional religious beliefs, possibly linked to scandals within the churches. Interestingly, almost 40% of participants still believe in a higher power or spirituality, indicating a shift towards more personal, less institutional forms of faith.
