Taliban Clarifies Misunderstanding About Women’s Communication
Amidst recent reports claiming a ban on women speaking to each other, Taliban officials in Afghanistan clarified that women can indeed communicate. Saifullah Islam Hiber from the Ministry for the Prevention of Corruption and Promotion of Virtue stated that interactions among women are necessary within society. These clarifications follow accusations from the UN regarding gender apartheid and ongoing restrictions on women’s rights, including education and public engagement. The Taliban continues to assert that Islamic law protects both men’s and women’s rights in Afghanistan.
