Thessaloniki is introducing a new public transport ticketing system alongside the launching of its metro line on November 30. Key updates include reduced fares: €0.60 for bus journeys and €0.60 for the metro. Users can interchange within 70 minutes with a single ticket. Limited interoperability will initially persist, with full integration anticipated by early 2025. The city’s aim is to boost public transport usage and generate revenue while offering enhanced service quality. Special groups will still enjoy free travel with personalized cards, which can be obtained easily at designated points.
