Tomiko Itooka, World’s Oldest Person, Passes Away at Age 116

Tomiko Itooka, recognized as the world’s oldest person by Guinness World Records, has died at the age of 116 in Ashiya, Japan. Born in May 1908, she lived through significant historical events, including both World Wars and technological advancements. Itooka was acknowledged for her long life and contributions to society, having played volleyball in her youth and managed her husband’s textile factory during World War Two. Following her passing, Brazilian nun Inah Canabarro Lucas is now believed to hold the title as the oldest living person.
