Trikala’s Urban Development Plan Emphasizes Resilience and Key Positioning
The Mayor of Trikala, Nikos Sakkas, highlighted crucial aspects of the city’s development in a recent presentation of the Local Urban Planning Study II. The initial phase focuses on scenarios for the growth of Trikala and surrounding villages, considering demographics, economics, and lessons learned from the 2023 floods. Sakkas emphasized the concept of ‘resilience,’ particularly important after last year’s floods, and the strategic importance of Trikala due to the completed E65 highway. The research team, led by Martha Housanaki, will proceed to draft a final proposal for local council consideration.
