UK Announces New Humanitarian Aid for Sudan amidst Ongoing Conflict

The British government has unveiled a new humanitarian aid package worth £113 million (approximately €136 million) for Sudan, where a war has been raging since April 2023. This contribution aims to support over 600,000 people in Sudan and 700,000 refugees in neighboring countries. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy is set to advocate for unrestricted aid access at the UN Security Council meeting, emphasizing that hunger should not be used as a weapon of war amid escalating violence and a humanitarian crisis involving over 11 million displaced persons.
