UK Partners with Balkan States to Combat People Smuggling
The UK is set to sign new agreements with Serbia, North Macedonia, and Kosovo to combat people-smuggling gangs as part of efforts to reduce small boat crossings into the nation. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer will make the announcement during the European Political Community summit in Budapest. The agreements aim to enhance intelligence sharing and cooperation to disrupt smuggling routes used by nearly 100,000 migrants last year. Starmer emphasized the need for collaborative international action to tackle organized immigration crime and reduce fatalities from risky Channel crossings.
