US Court Orders $42 Million Compensation for Abu Ghraib Torture Victims
A US federal court has ordered CACI Premier Technology, a security firm, to pay $42 million to three Iraqi men tortured at Abu Ghraib prison during the Iraq War. Each victim will receive $14 million after suffering severe abuse, including beatings and sexual assault, from 2003 to 2004. Salah al-Ejaili, one of the plaintiffs, expressed hope for justice, emphasizing the long battle for compensation. The Abu Ghraib scandal, revealed in 2004, prompted global outrage and saw 11 US soldiers convicted for their roles in the abuse.
