Violence Erupts Again in Amsterdam Amid Rising Tensions
In Amsterdam, unrest flared up once more last night, with dozens of young men clashing with police, igniting fireworks, and vandalizing property, including tram cars. This follows disturbances linked to a recent soccer match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax Amsterdam. While police have made several arrests, the motivations behind the riots remain unclear, and they left approximately 20 to 30 individuals injured. Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof condemned the riots as ‘anti-Semitic attacks,’ with Mayor Femke Halsema describing the events as a ‘shame for Amsterdam.’ Authorities are implementing stricter security measures for the safety of Israeli and Jewish residents.
