A recent survey indicates that 71% of general practitioners in the UK suffer from compassion fatigue, highlighting a gradual erosion of empathy towards patients. Conducted by the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland, the survey revealed that younger doctors, particularly those aged 25 to 34, are the most affected. Alarmingly, 44% of respondents fear that this fatigue could lead to medical errors. The newly elected Labour government has prioritized the recovery of the NHS, committing £22.6 billion by 2026 to address these pressing issues.
