World Athletics President Calls for Clearer Transgender Policies in Sports
Lord Coe, president of World Athletics and two-time Olympic champion, urges the International Olympic Committee to establish definitive rules regarding transgender athletes to safeguard women’s sports. Following Algeria’s Imane Khelif’s controversial gold win in women’s boxing at the recent Paris Games, Coe emphasizes the necessity of a transparent policy, stating that protection of the female category is ‘non-negotiable.’ In a recent interview, he also discussed the lessons learned in preparation for the IOC presidency and crucial challenges facing the Olympic movement, notably ahead of the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.
